Brake, transmission, exhaust and glass work is often done by specialty shops that see the same job dozens of times a week. Brake shops replace pads and rotors the same day and usually inspect for free; transmission shops rebuild or replace automatics and clutches, a multi-day job that deserves a second quote; muffler and exhaust shops weld custom pipes and replace catalytic converters, which in many states must meet emissions rules. Alignment and suspension shops fix pulling, uneven tire wear and worn shocks, and radiator shops handle overheating and cooling-system leaks. Auto glass shops replace windshields, often at your home or office, and recalibrate the driver-assistance cameras mounted behind the glass. Window tinting and car audio shops round out the group.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 9 am–6 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (773) 284-7117. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, turbinechicago.com.

Customers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on Google across 122 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded transmission shops in Chicago.

Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chicago follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Some years back I lived in the area of Turbine and thank GOD I didn’t need any trans work back then, but I would always drive past it wondering about it. Fast forward to 2025/2026 with me having a horrid end of 2025 regarding cars I ended up bringing my Mazda there to see if they could figure out why the trans suddenly went out after just having work done by a previous shop on the coolant system. Even though I now live close to Hammond, Indy given how long I knew they were around I figured they should be able to figure out what others couldn’t. I met Greg and told him what was going on and he immediately made me feel comfortable with using there services, especially when he told me β€œ hey we will figure this out together β€œ He worked with me as far as scheduling , getting my car in to get looked at because it was the holiday season and things were hectic and Welp long story short it turned out I towed it there dead on arrival because they determined that the trans was no good even given the fact it was just working great with no issues before the work was done by the other shop, but Greg, as well as Jim who I got great vibes from seemed to be really nice guys and seemed honest so I

I originally went to a big national chain for a transmission issue. They charged me about $200 just to run a diagnostic β€” which essentially meant plugging my car into their machine. Unfortunately, the results were not only vague but inaccurate. Based on this faulty report, they recommended replacing nearly every major component of my transmission system, including installing a brand-new transmission. For that initial fee, no actual repairs or adjustments were made β€” just a costly and misleading diagnosis. Right away, the experience raised red flags. The person at the counter didn’t seem to have a good grasp of basic car knowledge β€” at one point, he couldn’t even distinguish between a Hyundai and a Honda. He asked for my license plate number while looking at a completely different vehicle, a Honda, even though I drive a Hyundai. This didn’t inspire much confidence. On top of that, he kept aggressively pushing for a $3,000 new transmission, even though my car is worth only about $6,000. When I asked about more reasonable alternatives, like a used or refurbished transmission, he brushed off the suggestion entirely and continued insisting on the expensive option. Fortunately, I decided
